Diversity and Inclusion
Diversity and Inclusion
"When all of our people feel included, they feel empowered to make good decisions, share their opinions and to innovate. If everyone feels like part of the family, we all win."
- Abby Wendel, EVP/Chief Strategy Officer & Diversity & Inclusion Executive Champion
We see diversity as more than a statement on our website.
It is the diversity of our associates and our clients that brings energy to our business and determines our future. The only way we can create an inclusive workplace is by hiring a team that is rich in diversity of culture, talent, interests and thought. We know that embracing differences requires each of us to acknowledge our own biases and to spend time with people who are different than us.
UMB is committed to providing equal employment and advancement opportunities to all qualified associates and applicants without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sex, gender (including pregnancy), gender identity/expression, sexual orientation, age, ancestry, national origin, disability, veteran status, genetic information or any other legally protected status.
UMB Financial Corporation is an equal employment/affirmative action employer. If you need accommodation for any part of the employment process because of a disability, please send an e-mail to TalentAcquisition@umb.com or call 816-860-7972 to let us know the nature of your request.
Business Resource Groups
Through the feedback and thoughtfulness of our associates, our diversity practices are frequently evolving. Associates have the opportunity to participate in Business Resource Groups (BRGs), each of which focus on a unique internal audience, such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, veteran status, disabilities and more.
BRGs promote inclusion among all associates and provide a talent resource, volunteer and development opportunities, and contribute to the company's strategic business objectives. These groups play an important role at UMB by shedding light on what makes our associates unique, helping UMB hire diverse talent, and cultivating an environment where each person feels able to contribute.

In addition, UMB provides financial solutions and education for these business partners.
